At MycoBuoys we grow mushroom mycelium-based buoys for oyster farmers who wish to replace plastic components of their gear with a natural material to reduce the harmful environmental impacts from the manufacture, use and degradation of plastic buoys. We believe it is our responsibility to steward marine resources for future generations by reducing the bioaccumulation of toxic plastics in oceans and inland waterways, estimated to outweigh the biomass of fish in the ocean by 2050.

We sell certified home compostable plastic- free mesh packaging to shellfish and produce harvesters and distributors. The solution we are addressing is significant single use plastic waste from shellfish harvest and distribution. Our trademarked Ocean Harvest Bag is different from current alternatives because our product produces less greenhouse gases than plastic production and is the only mesh packaging available on the market that breaks down in home compost in 8-12 weeks.
